Who organizes the festival?

Film culture connects

We, the PRIDE PICTURES team, believe in equality and justice for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In a world where discrimination and prejudice are still widespread, we see the Queer Film Festival Karlsruhe as an essential space for political education and awareness-raising. We want to amplify the voices of the queer community and provide a platform that calls for action. Through the cultural genre of film and cinema, we promote understanding of sociopolitical issues, raise public awareness, and demand equality at the local and global level.

The team of the Queer Film Festival Karlsruhe sees itself as a diverse group of queer people who love queer stories and embrace the opportunity to bring them to the big screen. The love of film and the desire to bring diversity to the film landscape while simultaneously promoting queer film culture unites the team and builds a bridge to you, our audience.

The festival team consists of dedicated volunteer members of PRIDE PICTURES e.V.

Teamwork

Every year, the festival team presents international feature films, short films and documentaries that show more than the traditional image of human interaction. The program offers diverse perspectives, relevant topics and material for discussion and ranges from sensitive romantic dramas and the questioning of gender identities to humorous and sometimes absurd stories.

The latest film productions with queer content are regularly screened by the festival team. This includes visits to international film festivals and fairs, such as the Berlinale and the European Film Market. At the same time, organizational preparations are made for the next festival: Advertisement and networking, festival programming, inviting and accommodating international guests, translating films and creating German subtitles, designing the supporting program with film talks, panel discussions and workshops.

Beyond the festival, the non-profit association organizes additional screenings in cooperation with cultural institutions in the Karlsruhe area.

Colorful together

On a voluntary basis our team works to ensure that queer stories find a space in the public sphere and are seen and heard. Every year our aim is to curate a program that is as diverse as possible.
